Provides units with near real-time video, increased situational awareness, and reduced risk of detection, while allowing units to detect personnel and targets.

Description:
Soldier Borne Sensors (SBS) is an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) that mitigates losses of life and injuries by using a drone to conduct reconnaissance that Soldiers would usually perform on their own. The Black Hornet 4 (BH4) is the current SBS UAS utilized by Soldiers and provides units with near real-time video, increased situational awareness, and reduced risk of detection, while allowing units to identify personnel and targets from afar.

SBS is made up of a ground control system, composed of a hanger with hand controller and display unit, and an air vehicle. The display acts as the main hub for Soldiers to interact with the system, while the air vehicle is a small, highly maneuverable airborne sensor with low visual and audio signatures that support pre-planned and on-the-fly reconnaissance missions.

The BH4 increases maneuverability for small units by allowing them to assess a situation from a covered and concealed position, reducing the risk to the Soldier.
